I was intending to try the steak tostada salad at El Pollo Loco this afternoon, but the manager, who took my order, informed me that the steak was still frozen, and suggested I order the chicken instead. Now I don't know if the chicken and steak are precooked and then frozen, but I suspect that this is the case given the dryness of the chicken breast. I shouldn't be surprised that El Pollo Loco takes this cost-cutting shortcut, but I thought that maybe they would cook from scratch, since they do this with the grilled chicken. Next time I should stick to the grilled chicken. It's too bad the 3-piece meal is so expensive...
