I was thinking about the question after recalling the claim that it takes six months to rewire neural pathways to change a habit; would it take that long to get over a relationship? It does seem that looking to change the object of affection might speed up the process. But is mending a broken heart more like a habit or a complex behavior-emotion feedback loop that requires more time? Obviously pining away for the other person won't help the process; but what can be done to accelerate this? Moving on -- changing one's daily patterns of behavior. Focusing on other things. What other advice do people normally give?
