I'm in agreement with Rod Dreher and one of the comments about the meaning of the movie: On Not Getting American Sniper by Rod Dreher
Elsewhere some have claimed that being a sniper is a dishonorable or cowardly way to fight, not worthy of a "true warrior." Are they confusing life-or-death combat with the sort of status-jockeying or conflict-resolution fighting among boys and young men (and maybe even older men) that is not meant to end in death?

Setting aside the more obvious example of Charlie's Angels, tonight's episode of CHiPs on MeTV is "Mitchell and Woods," which follows a Ocean City female police detective and her new partner, also female. Feminism definitely had an impact on mass culture and TV, even though the two actresses are behaving more like actresses pretending to be detectives than real detectives.
