I thought I had a post with thoughts on inculturating Christianity in China, referring to the Opus Dei center in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Roman Catholic seminary.

I will have to see if I can find it later.

My thoughts haven't changed; while I appreciate the efforts to depict Christ and His Mother, etc. as ethnic Chinese in order to get the message of the Incarnation across and to make Christianity more acceptable to Chinese, I think in the long run it isn't such a good idea. Depicting Christ as a Jew, as the Byzantines typically do based on one received miraculous image or another, seems to be a better idea, and there is nothing wrong with having an iconographic tradition that is set like that (to some standards of realism) while maintaining other architectural and artistic features in the cultural traditions of another group.

Not all of the speakers are committed Latin traditionalists, as far as I know.

FSSP parishes may be growing in size, and they think that what is traditional or the "tried and true" may prevent them from losing members, but attendance at the EF is not sufficient to secure this outcome. The spiritual life is important but it cannot be separated from the proper exercise of the virtues, and while there are Latin men who are moving over to the EF (or have never left since they were children), whether this can be sustained over to the next generation and yet be effective at evangelization remains to be seen.

From a Byzantine pov, Kwasniewski's essay on the Byzantine rite compared with the two forms of the Roman rite has problems, so it shouldn't have been used as a serious argument for the EF being superior to the OF (with or without qualifications), which the author doesn't really provide apart from citing Kwasniewski's essay.

Should there be one form of the Roman rite for the Church of Rome? Probably. Should there be just one form of the Roman rite, or just the Roman rite for the entire patriarchate of Rome? That is debatable. But Latin traditionalists like to give their opinion regarding universal prescriptions for the entire patriarchate, rather than concede that local Churches may have different solutions. This is part of the centralizing mindset.

By way of conclusion, I offer this periphrasis, again borrowed from the French. Catholic Scouting today shows us that we are not made for this world, as the Scouting movement revolves around the liturgy, to which all activities ––pilgrimages, spectacles and variety shows, camping–– are anchored. However, while we are in this world, we ought to strive for a society which reflects divine and natural law, one which promotes peace, supports families, and most importantly, provides for the right worship of God. To this end, the Roman liturgy is the means for most baptized Catholics, as well as being an end in itself, and it provides the nourishment that lifts the reason of the most intellectual and orders the senses of the most sentimental, so that we might be filled with the grace of the Spirit in every moment...

Is world an appropriate translation for saeculum, or would age be better? Or are we talking about κόσμου (as in the Gospel of John) instead?

It is true that a concession for some use of the vernacular was sought by some missionaries (although we may note that a large number of bishops at Vatican II spoke up against vernacularization), and there is no particular reason to think that this concession is necessarily a bad idea. However, there is much in the Catholic liturgy that remains constant from day to day; that content should certainly remain in Latin (for further argumentation, see, e.g., here, here, and here).
