John Paul Shimek Interviews Carrie Gress

Women in the Church, and conversations that evangelize by John Paul Shimek
Author Carrie Gress discusses a “theology of woman,” practical approaches to evangelizing loved ones, and her new book on John Paul II’s Krakow.

"Throughout history, Christian women have been evangelizing the world, particularly through their families."

But how effective are they in this role, in comparison with Christian fathers? At least she doesn't try to explicitly stake out a "Catholic feminism" in this inteview.

Last Knights

Last Knights: PC fantasy retelling of the 47 Ronin. Perhaps the diverse casting was meant to help the ticket sales worldwide than to reflect the "secular" moral code given at the beginning of the movie (by Morgan Freeman, whose place in the movie I still found laughably out of place -- his sense of gravitas was not credible). But if one sets aside these flaws, it's passable entertainment and there is no girl power display infecting the movie.

Gil Bailie on René Girard

René Girard's Genius and Generosity by Gil Bailie (via Insight Scoop)
Walked through the Great Mall for the first time in a while -- the mall was packed with minorities -- Indians, Filipinos, Hispanics, Vietnamese and Chinese. I saw only a few white people (a few overweight white females in the food court). The America the Democratic party wants?
