From AGP:
"An ad for the movie came on during a superbowl party last week. A mother with two young kids was there, a woman who recently blew up her marriage to chase her boss and later tried to justify it by claiming her husband was abusive. I heard her ask another woman if she'd read the books, and then tell her they were "really hot"..."
Just remembered that they played the commercial for FSG during the Uhmerican Bowl.

Drats! Forgot my leftovers. Henry's Hi Life is $$$, but the babyback ribs are probably the best I've had in the area. Still need to try Sam's. Getting old.

The Impact of Mass Media on Assimilation
In areas where minorities were still a small percentage of the local population and whites were the majority, and the children of non-white parents were immersed in a dominantly white mass media culture, were the children more likely to identify with white culture and white people and to seek assimilation?
In contrast, today, with cries for "diversity" and "representation" having been heeded by the mass media corporations, coupled with white flight, is there less of a need for assimilation by children of non-white parents, since they are affirmed as having a separate "American" identity and can hang out with their own kind? Or if there is assimilation, it is to the white cosmopolitan liberal culture depicted in television and movies which is set against traditional white culture? (Look at San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, or New York, for example.)

While old TV shows like CHiPs and Quincy, M.E. may be enjoyable for their relative innocence and as a reminder of the Uhmerica of the past, they nonetheless were written by people with a progressive agenda, as evidenced by storylines. Were people in the American "entertainment" industry always seeking social change? Or did did this trend only pick up steam when the authority of traditional religious authority had been curbed?
I Doubt This Will Help NBC
I don't think this is a remake of the original British/Italian miniseries, but is a sequel to The Bible.
This is Why NBC is in the Ratings Toilet
Saw the teaser during the UhmericanBowl game: Odyssey
From writer-director Peter Horton ("Grey's Anatomy") and writers Adam Armus and Kay Foster ("The Following") comes "Odyssey," a complex journey through global politics, corporate espionage and military secrets involving three strangers who only have one thing in common... the truth. In this "Traffic"-like action drama, an international conspiracy explodes when the lives of a female Special Forces soldier, a disillusioned corporate lawyer, and a political activist from a privileged family unexpectedly collide.

California, what a political cesspool.
California moves to end personal belief exemptions for vaccination--at last
In a liberal nanny state, "common good" becomes utilitarian.
Rather tacky to dress in your "work" clothes to show off your credentials and claim authority. Was he afraid that people would take him less seriously if he were dressed up in a suit and tie?

Dealing with the world as it is
Letter from the Prelate (February 2015)
No program of resistance or change... should we resign ourselves to the way things are? What about those women who have a choice as to whether they can work outside the home or not?
The anniversary of 14 February 1930 makes present to us the essential contribution that women are called to make to the family atmosphere in their own home, in places where they work, in the professional and social associations they take part in. Perhaps you fail to realize it, my daughters; but the way you present yourselves in society—your modest and elegant bearing, your good manners with others, your smile—just as the cleanliness and care of your home, are a wonderful way to show others how marvelous it is to realize we are children of God. Thus you bring everywhere the good aroma of Christ[15] that is distinctive of Christians.
No program of resistance or change... should we resign ourselves to the way things are? What about those women who have a choice as to whether they can work outside the home or not?

Catholic Answers reins handed to ex-Marine, Christopher Check
Mr. Check is favorable to the EF of the Roman rite, iirc. Will this lay apostolate cease being Latin? I don't think so - though maybe they can find some experts who are more familiar with the Church Fathers and other ecclesial traditions of the Church.

Why?
Ecumenism Behind Closed Doors
While Benedict XVI made it easier for Anglicans in disagreement with the “liberal” direction of their Church to enter into the Catholic Church, Francis is not, he prefers that they remain where they are. The revelations of two Anglican friends of the pope

Of course they'd ban this...
It didn't fit the PC agenda (the Always "Girl power" commercial, the domestic violence commercial, the commercial celebrating the proud dad of a female marine... etc. etc.
