The Big News Today
Vatican Press Office announces a ‘Provisional Agreement’ between China and the Holy See, the beginning of a process, says Greg Burke
The Provisional Agreement concerns the appointment of bishops. The Global Times today cited China’s Foreign Ministry, which denied the presence in Beijing of a Vatican delegation. China’s leadership appears divided on the matter. The goal of this “accord is not political but pastoral”.

Card Parolin on the importance of the agreement between China and the Holy See on the appointment of bishops
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs unaware of any visiting Vatican delegation by Wang Zhicheng
Card Pietro Parolin also appears to have distanced himself from any imminent agreement on episcopal appointments. Mgr Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, praises China, calling it an influential power that respects human dignity and the planet. For him, the critics of the Sino-Vatican agreement are "a little minority", loud “but there are not very many of them.”
Card Zen on the China-Vatican agreement: Saying nothing in many words by Card. Joseph Zen Ze-kiun
Provisional agreement between China and Holy See raises many questions, highlights tensions by Christopher R. Altieri
The central question is whether the Church can trust this Chinese government, and whether Chinese Catholics can trust this Papal administration not to give away the store.

Crocker Pushing for Civic Nationalism as a Solution
Imaginative Conservative: The Late, Great USA? by H. W. Crocker III
Of course when I saw the photo accompanying the essay I thought of Charleton Heston in Planet of the Apes. A weaponized Zeroth Amendment has been used by leftists to destroy any sort of national American identity and to subvert heritage Americans.
But how can immigrants who do not share an identity with heritage Americans share the same patriotism as they do? Does Crocker think that civic nationalism can still be viable?

Burke Cannot Save Mainstream Conservatism
What has movement "conservatism" or the Republican Party conserved? Nothing. The essayist naively assumes that either of those two entities would be interested in adopting Burke. Only an alternative can protect legitimate traditions rooted in the Natural Law.
CWR Dispatch: Right by Nature: Russell Kirk, contemporary conservatism and natural law by Nathanael Blake
Human laws and institutions should reflect the order and goodness of God and His eternal law, which man defies at his peril.

Abbeville Institute: Fractured Federalism By William J. Watkins
Proposals to turn national programs over to the states are abound in Washington. The failure of federal programs over the past 60 years demonstrates that centralized solutions to local problems are ineffective. Federalism—the constitutional distribution of power between the states and national government— is once again on the agenda.

More Catholic Feminism
Reads like it was written by a somewhat smart woman who thought she was as good as, if not better, than men.
Time to ordain women…or not by Mary Catherine Sommers
“Prophetic femininity” is the underutilized, even marginalized, power that the Church has to save itself from the present scandals.

Cultural Marxism?
How many Pharisees consider themselves as followers of cultural Marxism? Or are they following their own agenda, even if those two agendas have very similar goals and means?
