Conflict managers is still used by some schools as a way to help children resolve their arguments amongst themselves. Not surprisingly, it is also used as a means of combat bullying. Does the program teach children important communication and mediation skills, or does it prepare them to accept the nanny state with meddlesome bureaucrats?

Rainbow Looms and the cheap knock-offs appear to be a popular toy for elementary school children; one of my nieces has one. Today I found a 3rd grade class in which the boys were also playing with the looms to make bracelets. "Hm." Such trends come and go, though one might argue that the appeal of making such things with their own hands does not completely disappear even in Uhmerican girls. Could the boys be learning something else instead. The gender reconstructionists would object to any such redirection of boys towards more masculine pursuits.

Spent some time tonight with xiao Jimmy and the OD. Xiao Jimmy unexpectedly agreed to go to the OD's church tonight for dinner, but he said he felt like he had to because of their little chat last night. Before meeting them, I stopped by Van Heusen to see if I could find a red tie; nothing cheap and pleasing to the eye. Will check Sears and JC Penny tomorrow. Later tonight I went to the groom's house and spent some time with him and his wedding party.

W. Winston Elliott III recommends Chris Ferrara's Liberty: The God That Failed. Does he agree with all the details of his historical narrative? Seems like it.
