Being an Opinionated Academic Doesn't Make Him a Leader

or an expert on leadership or human societies or human nature. Apparently he's never done any research on the lack of matriarchal societies in human history, or if he has, forgot it or ignores it. It is male leadership which will reform the church, even if it is not all clerical. Generally academics are as isolated as clerics from any actual process of becoming properly qualified for leadership.

What they have exposed to view is that a weak church attracts a lot of weaker people trying to find a safe bolt-hole. This includes the huge presence of conservative gay cabals in denial amongst the clergy. Everyone knows this accounts for large parts of abuse and its concealment

Is the community or the common good or the "public arena," the domain of men and their fraternal cooperation, subordinate to the good of the household? Or is the good of the household part of the common good?

He doesn't seem to go far enough in his criticism of the axiom for which they acted, egalitarianism.

You wanted equality.

How many women would be willing to speak freely on political issues without the protection of anonymity, distance, or men? If a woman wants to be free to voice a political opinion, then I am free to disagree and respond in an appropriate manner, which may not be through dialectic. After all, men used to understand these terms of discourse, though many of our coddled and emasculated young men of today may run away to their safe space, so why shouldn't we hold women to the same standard. If they say that they should be free from "intimidation," I say that they cannot be free from being held accountable for their words/advocacy.

Does he go too far in some of his historical claims? Women may have been leaders but only in sex-specific (monastic communities) or rare (monarchical government) instances. And the fact of female rulers predates Christianity -- it is a flaw of any monarchical system that is inflexible and static.
