The Marketing of Catholic Higher Ed

Chugging along like the present will continue forever, with no awareness of how dyscivic and dysgenic feminism is.

Overselling Catholic Liberal Arts Education

CWR: “Our goal is to help our students find their vocation in life”

“Many people have been attracted by the education we offer, and we’ve grown as an institution,” says Christopher Ice, the third president of Ave Maria University. “This previous school year we had 1,100 students; this fall, we expect to have 1,200.”

Our goal is to help our students find their vocation in life. That could be a priest or religious, marriage or the single life, or it could be in a particular secular career. When our graduates leave, we want them to have a clear picture of where they want to go. They’re aided by an active spiritual life on campus, which includes three daily Masses, daily confession, perpetual Eucharistic adoration, praise and worship and rosary nights.

What do they know about vocation for the majority of Catholics other than wage slavery?

It's Easy to Deal with a Symptom

Not with the cause of increased porn use. How about dealing with the loss of existential meaning for young men? And their lack of marriage prospects because of a toxic gynocentric culture?

This Will Continue Right Up to the End of Catholic Higher Ed in the US

CWR Dispatch: Stretching Out to Great Things: A Commencement Address for the University of St. Thomas

“When we follow these prompts of our culture today, we become cramped souls, what the medieval philosophers called pusillae animae. The entire point of a Catholic intellectual formation is to produce magnae animae (great souls).”

Hitching Their Wagon to a Lame Horse

Roman Catholics need to stop investing themselves and their fortunes in urban mass population centers. We are undergoing imperial collapse, and this is just malinvestment.

SSH Goes Mainstream

Vox Day.

Can we better understand monastics or those especially living an eremetical form of life as being sigmas? I suppose the normal hierarchy could be found where there is more of a monastic community. Monasticism then could be understood in such "sociological terms," though those who extol the perfection of living the evangelical vows would not be satisfied. But it would allow a place for continued development of our understanding of the "lay" Christian vocation.

Meanwhile, in the AmChurch...

The AmChurch continues to fail Roman Catholic men.

Liberal Education Will Fix Everything!

When you don't have political liberty, a liberal education really doesn't matter, especially if that liberal education is deemed to be in opposition to the reigning woke civic religion and therefore to be eliminated.

Priorities, people. Don't look to academics for leadership or solutions to our political crisis because they are stuck in the mindset of preserving their job and financial security. They are not really fremen.

Let Catholic Higher Ed Burn

Academic "mutual admiration society."

There will be no honest grappling with race issues and identity politics, or the principles of political community, just PC platitudes about racism being bad, etc. Note that there is no session on "What We Owe to Men."

More Hustling of the Liberal Arts

More inflation of the liberal arts. "The liberal arts free the soul not only from oppression and dominating power structures, but for the good life." Not even Christ may free us from external oppression and unjust power structures, but Christ, and only Christ, frees us from sin. What else won't American liberal arts school do? Turn young males into men, because they have neither the ethos, faculty members, or the requisite understanding to do so. Indeed, virtually all, including conservative or Catholic ones, take pride in being egalitarian and co-ed. And so the majority of liberal arts schools will die out, along with other cultural institutions, and deservedly so as a Divine punishment, whether they realize it or not. (Those given charge of the schools will probably proclaim their innocence of any wrong-doing until the end.)

Chavagnes Still Exists

But for how much longer? Is formal schooling the best environment for training a young male into worship? What is the appropriate ritual for initiating a male into adulthood? (Neo-)Confucians would be most sympathetic to the approach taken by Catholic liberal educators. And should such an initiation ritual take place outside the tribe or community to which a young man belongs? Probably not.
