The story behind the costume? I read this interview with Miss Hu, and it is revealed that in the pilot episode, she plays a massage parlor worker who has an unexpected reunion with one of her high school classmates while she is "servicing" him. Yeah, ABC, owned by Disney, the family-friendly company. The comedy looks like another series with 30- and 40-somethings whining about life. How much more self-indulgent can this be? Kelly Hu's character was the HS valedictorian, attended Wesleyan, married, was widowed... not sure what led her to the massage parlor for employment, this will be revealed in a future episode. Other characters end up somewhere else than they expected as well. Do I care enough about the characters to find out their "life stories"? Probably not.
