Choices have consequences

I was going to say actions, but lack of action can also be an action, if it is deliberately chosen. When does concern for consequences become too much? When it prevents the right or prudent action from being done. It seems paradoxical--after all, it is part of prudence to take into account the possible consequences of the various actions one may take. But it may turn out that how people may react is not as important as first responding appropriately to them, especially if they have it coming... their choices have consequences, too.

"We all have it coming."

So is the intended response proportionate? In accord with justice? Even if it is in accord with justice, is it in accord with charity?
