The last name should be familiar. This should ring a bell: "A caveat, or two, here. I am not talking about a political option of withdrawal; in fact, I think our political system is too large, too corporate-funded, too a-lot-of-stuff to have any hope of changing things on a large scale."
Still... "We need a larger culture to live out our vocation as salt and light."
Not dealing with others who are present in our lives is not an option; the author is correct that we must practice charity to all we encounter. What, then, is missing from this critique? Again, the order of charity, and where community-formation falls under that relative to those who are outside community.
