I've been reading through Kirkpatrick Sale's The Human Scale. It's a dense book and the statistics and numbers can be overwhelming, so it can be difficult to judge how sound his arguments are. But I would recommend it to those who are interested in the problem of size for the science of politics. So far I have not read anything that would support the characterization of Mr. Sale as a leftist. Does he support a local version of socialism or the welfare state? Is he a libertine with respect to "social issues?"

His contribution to the American Conservative's "What is Left? What is Right?" issue.
