Tenants are eager for the revitalization of the Cupertino Square shopping mall to resume despite an avalanche of legal and financial problems facing the center.
Cupertino Square has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is in the midst of a flurry of lawsuits and counter suits with a construction lender.
While some merchants remain optimistic about the future of Cupertino Square, other tenants are frustrated with the mall's legal battles and the resulting delays in its renovation.
Most of the tenants that were approached were unwilling to comment on any mall-related issues. Some who did speak opted to remain anonymous and voiced a general frustration with the mall's current condition.
"There is no traffic or business in this mall. There is no marketing. It is very hard to survive," said a manager at one shop.
"I'm not frustrated with management, just the process. We don't know the future of this mall and we need to know what their plan is."
