What does it say about the American character when football has become much more violent and brutal on the bodies of those who play it? (And the game or sporting event has to continue even though there's been a serious injury or death that has resulted from the play? What kind of mentality is that? The sport is not an end unto itself. The Munich Olympics probably should have been stopped, but we have elevated the significance of sports beyond what is reasonable.) I can understand why some might prefer rugby as a more civilized game. The British maintained an empire for quite some time, and they didn't need American football to [de-]form their young men.

To use rugby uniforms as an inspiration for a new fashion line--Ralph Lauren Rugby... the dresses and skirts are definitely problematic. Have we reached a deadend yet with respect to fashion innovation?
