Looking After One's Kin

I am often asked what about my family’s Appalachian culture I’m most proud of. I instinctively say “loyalty.” But as I age, I think more and more about how we all did everything we could to keep our elderly in the homes of their kin. Didn’t always succeed, but we did pretty well.
