Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity by Charles Marohn

CWR Dispatch: Consumption vs. Community by Lauren Enk Mann
Charles Marohn, author of Strong Towns, explicitly recommends the Catholic idea of subsidiarity, and his proposals are not grandiose or concerned with national policies, but rather with neighborhood charity.

Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of South Bend-Ft. Wayne: "Friendship with Our Jewish Brothers and Sisters"

CNA/CWR: Catholics must reject social media anti-Semitism, Indiana bishop says

"We are bound together with them in friendship as brothers and sisters in the family of God,” said Rhoades.

This is erroneous, or just plain heresy, and ignores the necessity of divine adoption in Christ.

Any antagonism is a response to transgressions by outsiders, and political in nature, not religious.

CWR Dispatch: Canadian bishops lament Vanier’s misconduct, while affirming value of L’Arche

Chilton Williamson, Jr. on Neil McCaffrey

CWR: Rightly Said: Remembering Neil McCaffrey by Chilton Williamson, Jr.
McCaffrey was a Catholic first of all, and next a conservative. Catholicism and conservativism were always his chief concerns as a man, a publisher, and a writer.

Christopher R. Altieri on the Vanier Scandal

CWR: Letter from Rome, February 22, 2020: Jean Vanier by Christopher R. Altieri
We must remember that God’s mercy — the response of self-subsistent Charity to sinful creatures — is severe; stern as death, and not less terrible than His wrath.

A comment: Institutions can no longer masquerade as being communities or of the community — they are instead tied to mass population centers where anonymity and the lack of accountability reign. If there is to be reform, there must be accountability, and everyone must vet each other properly, and where this is not possible, distance must be maintained. This is the only way forward. Trust can no longer be assumed or given freely — it must be earned.
