Hathaway is a lovely girl with large brown eyes who achieved a peak of loveliness in Ella Enchanted with a virginal glow and perfect features. Here her face has settling into leaner shape with a very wide mouth, and a rather immature voice, sounding like a reedy little girl's. She cannot hold her own against Streep who is the most consummate actress of her time, but she performs adequately enough to move the story along.

Yes, Miss Hathaway is another one of those "not a girl, not yet a woman"--and she's going to play Jane Austen? I don't think so... I find her manner of speaking really grating on the ears.
