Bradford Wilcox on the Suzanne Venker Show

Episode 61. I expect very little discussion of feminism's effects on women's expectations of sex, love, romance, and a very blue-pilled view of reality from Wilcox.

Confessions of Love

Maybe beta confessions of love as shown in this AKB48 PV (and held to be ideal by many immature Asian teenagers) can be somewhat successful with those who are more innocent or naive (or emotionally repressed) -- and after all, don't East Asians mature later? Still, being alpha would be even more effective with the innocent girls.

Where are the men to teach these teenaged males how to be men? And if the ones who are successful in the video are the more assertive and "attractive" males " (there is one rejection), we should not be shocked that so many Japanese men are going their own way and being "herbs."

(Makes one wonder if the AKB48 girls are being genuine in their expression of emotions. Are they really touched by such gestures of "pure love"? Or are they themselves actually waiting for the high-status Japanese men to take ownership of them?

Perhaps Not the Right Question to Ask

Is Traditional Courtship Really “Unrealistic” Today? by Anthony Esolen

Feels Like Saturday

Go to 2:16. "What a creep!" These days Tony would get in trouble with feminists for harassing women like that...

What is the utility of coed Catholic young adult groups, beyond mere socializing? Is it possible these days for men to strengthen attraction in subtle ways? And what's the time frame for him to follow through, such that he is friendzoned after a certain point? It seems to me that most Catholic men who try to be "nice" and "friendly" probably get friendzoned immediately by the women there. Even mere socializing might get them there, since it is not exciting or bold. But would flirting and anything stronger lead to someone no longer being welcome to the group, because he is being too socially "disruptive"?

American Catholics really need to rethink the ways they are trying to get young people to meet.

Taking on the Gamers

A bit of a strawman, isn't it? How many of those in the androsphere/PUAsphere focus only on doing what is necessary to attract a woman, rather than making men more manly in general? Even those who are purpotedly shallow in that sense may have moved away from that to promote the broader message of the androsphere. While there are some decent articles at AoM that teach men things, I am wary of the blog owners/authors and their appeal to some made-up traditional bouregois American identity.

Someone pointed out, rightly, that those who go clubbing usually do so in groups or with their SOs; they don't do so in order to meet their soulmates, though a casual hook-up or ONS might result. A Darwinian battlefield, where the weapons are false eyelashes, makeup, tight and short dresses, high heels? Since these women are probably not thinking about reproduction, no, but the nightclub is an opportunity for women to display their SMV, on the terms of contemporary hook-up culture. Stupidity on full display, and I haven't even started talking about the women who were getting drunk and could barely walk. There were a few who were doing some scandalous moves but it didn't happen as often as one might think. Maybe we were just in a "classier" nightclub in SF.

Getting Their Knickers in a Twist

We are at war with those who are at war with reality.

Truthful dating and relationship advice is terribly sexist. Does that mean reality is sexist, too?

The Good Mixed With the Bad

But mostly bad.

Contemporary Catholic dating advice - THE FEMININE HEART by Rev. Jacob Bertrand

There may be a crisis of masculinity, but telling men to 'man up' while ignoring the other social and cultural factors at work is likely to be met with indifference. As for the Catholic princess rhetoric, has the author been reading Protestant churchian advice websites?

In Defense of Matchmaking

Matchmaking and Imagined Sentiments: Jane Austen's Emma by Mitchell Kalpakgian
What do matchmakers know that eludes the common man? What does the common man know that escapes the matchmakers? Austen’s novel shows that true romance originates from equality of social background and education, compatibility of temperaments, similarity of moral ideals and manners, natural attraction based on reason and feeling, and mutual admiration. Matchmaking ignores these facts and truths on which good marriages are founded, exaggerating the role of the feelings and ignoring the importance of the mind, moral character, and the virtue of prudence in marital choices. Matchmaking imagines sentiments that do not exist and does not let love follow its natural course in which like is attracted to like.
Is Emma an argument against matchmaking? Or are her attempts marked by her lack of wisdom and lofty, perhaps even romantic expectations? The problem is not matchmaking, but the one doing it (and her principles of judgment). Could it even be said that Emma is fortunate to be saved from herself by an older, wiser man? I don't think that would be an exaggeration. The equality of education that is needed is not in book-learning (though it may be important for some men), but in moral formation and culture. In  the androsphere it is said that the current situation is the result of women being left to their fallen nature and their own judgment about what is best for them. They might actually benefit from the services of a matchmaker, an older person situated in a social network, if they had the humility to admit that their judgment may not be that good. They'd also need the beginnings of a good character which would aid in governing or diminishing their more wild or base impulses.

Christian Masculinity

Actually, one Christian man's understanding of interacting with women (but also with others), and the consequences of his success in teaching other males how to be men: A reader teaches some aspects of “game” to men in his church and now faces possible expulsion. Please pray for him.

Girl: "He was a creep."

Robert Lindsay: One More Word You Can’t Use on the Sit
Mostly the word is used by young women to mean “any guy who doesn’t turn me on.”
