I just don't think brass instruments are appropriate for the liturgy...
What sort of influences are behind the music? European and indigenous American? While it is laudable that music composed by natives of lands evangelized by Roman-rite missionaries (and descendants of settlers as well) be used in the Roman rite when possible, I think polyphony composed in the "New World" is much more suitable for the liturgy--for some samples, see the two A Choir of Angels cds sold by the California Missions gift shop.
