My sister KK suggested the following places...
(just remembered that it is the Brazilian BBQ/churrascaria in SF
Buca di Beppo
Maggiano's Little Italy
I've been to the Pasta Pomodoro at Santana Row; there's another one on El Camino, at the Border's/Cherry Orchard plaza (guess what used to be there). Pasta Pomodoro wasn't impressive, and I probably wouldn't go back there again. Heh, Maggiano's online menu doesn't have prices. Some rich purist may say that one shouldn't examine a restaurant by looking at the prices on the menu, but it's difficult to judge the quality of the food without having tasted it... I think xiao Jimmy has been there, but I don't remember him saying anything other than it's like "family-style" and it's ok but expensive. iirc, he hasn't been to BdB, so he couldn't compare the two. Going by the Yelp reviews, I don't think I would want to go there on a weeknight, but BdB might not be much better.
