Shelby Foote

Confederates in the Attic (wiki) - I skimmed through the chapter containing the interview with Shelby Foote yesterday at Borders. The author is not friendly to 'neo-Confederates'; it is not clear to me if he fully accepts the claim that Southern secesstion was primarily about issues other than slavery, even if slavery did precipatate a final confrontation over those issues. I don't think he interviewed anyone from the LoS or the SCV or similar organizations, but then again, I didn't read through the whole book. I will have to get the 3-volume history of the war to prevent Southern secesstion by Mr. Foote, though.
