I think Macross II and Macross 7 looked at music which did not promote peace and love, but war instead. So perhaps it could be said that the creators of Macross would agree that there are good forms of music and bad forms. (Even if they do approve of Japanese pop and rock.) Or they would at least agree that music can be beneficial or harmful according to its lyrics and melodies? In this respect they would be closer to the ancient Greeks than many Americans.
