I find that the breadth of my vocabulary has shrunk over the past few years--is it because of bad habits that have dulled the mind, not enough reading, too narrow a focus on philosophy, or all of the above? My memory is getting worse, too. But I know that is due in part to acquired ADHD--or an abbreviated attention span, mainly because of the Internet. Clicking impulsively on links, before one's processed information and made a plan on what to read next, prevents imprinting on short-term memory.
