The 10th Amazing Race begins tonight

on CBS; the show has won the Emmy for the best reality tv show 4 times in a row

While I appreciate the snippets of other cultures that one witnesses while rushing all over the world, in the end, such differences are merely filler, and not taken seriously. It's the tourist's idea of how to travel the world, not that of a pilgrim or someone who wishes to learn.

One of the teams appears to be compromised of two best friends who are devout Muslims, Bilal and Sa'eed. "Because we have to show that Muslims are normal Americans like everyone else." Which isn't problematic in and of itself, but given the current over-reaction by Muslims all over the world to the pope's lecture at the University of Regensburg...

The first destination? Beijing, China. What sort of sights and activities will we witness tonight?

*edited* Hilarious! The road-block task is to eat fish eyes. Haha I know someone who could handle that task.

*second edit* The brothers were eliminated; one of this season's twists, eliminations apparently can happen at the mid-way point, and do not have to take place at the pitstop. The restaurants looked like they were geared for tourists, very clean and dressed up well. I wonder what section of Beijing they are in. Does Amazing Race have a travel log?
