Drs. Fleming and Wilson helped to start the League of the South. There's even a California chapter. It is the target of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which ALSO calls Pat Buchanan a racist and has recently judged certain traditionalist Catholics as being anti-semitic. Can you count the fallacies in the piece on Mr. Buchanan? Plenty of ad hominens and guilt by association fallacies. The SPLC noted that Dr. Fleming and Dr. Grady McWhiney were no longer listed on the board of directors. Does this mean they no longer support the organization? The League of the South is labelled a Confederate hate group, though there is nothing on the offical website that shows it supports racism. One could argue that this has to be hidden and cannot be advertised to the public. But if that is the case, what is the evidence? Perhaps there are some who are affiliated with the League who are racists, but given that the mission of the League is to foster and protect Southern identity and culture, should it be surprising that among its members there are some who link this to bigotry?

As for having a strict policy on immigration--accusing people of racism because they do not see assimilation taking place and they wish to preserve their own culture is a rather dumb judgment to make, one that doesn't pay sufficient attention to the argument. Then again, when one is gripped by universalist principles, it's not surprising that they see those who support the particular and the local as being bigoted.

Who doesn't prefer Southern culture to that of the Yankees?
