Reasons Why I'll Watch This Movie

I'm in agreement with Rod Dreher and one of the comments about the meaning of the movie: On Not Getting American Sniper by Rod Dreher

Elsewhere some have claimed that being a sniper is a dishonorable or cowardly way to fight, not worthy of a "true warrior." Are they confusing life-or-death combat with the sort of status-jockeying or conflict-resolution fighting among boys and young men (and maybe even older men) that is not meant to end in death?

Supposedly, she doesn't get what Cardinal Burke is saying, even though she contributes to a blog where I bet a few of the contributors can give her some explanation on what the cardinal means.

Give them an opportunity to speak in an authoritative capacity and they will subvert good order, regardless of their "intentions."

Sons of Liberty

Reminds me of the young adult crap on the CW, like the series on Queen Mary

Seems like the History Channel is trying to offer some competition for Turn: Washington's Spies

A Drama with a Neutral Perspective on the War? Unlikely.

PBS And Ridley Scott Team For A New Civil War Series!!

Of course the story has the Hollywood touch...
Based on true stories, the new drama follows two volunteer nurses on opposite sides of the Civil War. Mary Phinney, a staunch New England abolitionist, and Emma Green, a willful young Confederate belle, collide at Mansion House, the Green family’s luxury hotel that has been taken over and transformed into a Union Army Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia, the longest-occupied Confederate city of the war. As the boundaries of medicine are being explored and expanded, the role of women is also broadening. Here, in the collision of a wartime medical drama and a family saga of conflicted loyalties and moral dilemmas, the series plays out a story of the highest stakes.

Scott's production The Man in the High Castle is one of the new pilot episodes being shopped on Amazon.

Setting aside the more obvious example of Charlie's Angels, tonight's episode of CHiPs on MeTV is "Mitchell and Woods," which follows a Ocean City female police detective and her new partner, also female. Feminism definitely had an impact on mass culture and TV, even though the two actresses are behaving more like actresses pretending to be detectives than real detectives.
