More Androsphere Memes Showing up at FM

Has there been a change in writers over the blog? (I had always been aware that it was a group blog, given the divergent political perspectives that have appeared in concurrent articles in the past, but such androsphere-friendly articles are relatively new.)

Another Gallipoli Production

Because it's the 100th anniversary?

Gallipoli - Interview with Mel Gibson

'Nuff Said

What Happened with The Unit

Found this via a comment at VP: A Letter from David Mamet to the Writers of The Unit

The show could have been much better -- how much of it was due to DH's questionable acting schools as Jonas Blaine? Still, it is probably the case that the writing for the show was rather bad, and the fact that 1/2 of the show focused on drama involving the housewives probably compounded this. That the scripting was a problem would explain why Mamet's Spartan, a movie focused on Delta Operators, was better entertainment despite the greater "realism" of The Unit.

The following critique: The Fantasy of American Innocence: Little Boy

After seeing the trailers, I thought the movie was trying too hard to capture an America that no longer exists, at least in its major population centers, and which seemed more like a projection onto the past. The character of the father could be be worse -- but he doesn't seem very manly in the boy's fantasies. And the producers (Mark Burnett and Roma Downey) of the film have a rather lousy track record with respect to creating high art or something representative of apostolic Christianity.

Are contemporary Christian movies becoming their own sort of kitsch?
