On Saturday, while I was looking around at Valley Fair at clothes with xiao Jimmy and also at the other customers, particularly those having XX chromosomes and falling within a certain age bracket, we dropped by the Sanrio store to see if there was anything I could pick up. Alas, the selection of dolls had decreased, and there were not many products featuring characters other than Hello Kitty.
There were plenty of customers over at Build-a-Bear; it's unfortunate Sanrio doesn't have their own version, or at least a great selection of stuffed animals. The store that sold Sanrio products over at Vallco is gone, I don't know if it moved elsewhere, but I doubt it. (Vallco is supposed to get an AMC in the Fall, but I wonder if it will be enough to bring business back to the mall. Westgate has an AMC across the street, but the stores are relatively dead, and Saratoga El Paseo, which has the AMC, isn't doing much better it seems--looks like a lot of the people there are there for the restaurants and such.)

I bought a My Melody doll for my niece a while back, and was looking to see if I could find something else for her. I think her mom likes Sanrio products; certainly there is a big market in Japan among women for them. Kinokuniya San Jose used to carry a regular Sanrio catalog/magazine, but last time I was in the store, I didn't see it.

Kylee doesn't like build-a-bear. She got a gift certificate as a gift so we took her there. Unfortunately, the bear stuffing machine scared her - she let out the funniest high-pitched screech whenever the machine went on. She definitely prefers Hello Kitty, pre-stuffed.
Yeah, and make sure it's a BIG Hello Kitty. She doensn't like the cheapo little ones. She's a smart girl. =)
