Chiesa: In Japan As on the Banks of the Rhine. The Church's Surrender
Ah Japan - who has been educating the priests and bishops there? The Jesuits? Who else?
With this sort of witness to the Gospel, should we not expect the Church in Japan to be stagnant?
Yes, the issue of family life is much broader than the question of whether those who are divorced and remarried may receive communion. Who will dare say the P-word, patriarchy? The collapse of the family is to be expected with the trajectory of the modern nation-state and its domination by the interests of the oligarchy. To protect the "family" as such is not enough - one must restore the role of men as fathers and as members of the political community.
