Too little, too late?

Or doing what one can to make the best of a situation?

It will probably not be well-equipped to deal with the Gender War.

A Bad Development

Catholic San Francisco: Archbishop revamps liturgy institute, hires new executive director by Valerie Schmalz

Woman in charge? Check. Talk about multiculturalism? Check. (Because we have a multicultural Church, not one that has assimilated and inculturated with [Anglo-]American culture and society.) A focus on the intellect (and the imagination) instead of the heart? Check.

I expect this change in direction to fail to stem the shrinkage of the archdiocese. If the institute had maintained its liturgical focus there are a few young priests recently ordained who perhaps could have been recruited to help renew the liturgical praxis of the archdiocese and revivify liturgical spirituality. Now, the institute appears little better than a way to help Catholic nerds get speaking gigs.

October 18th, 2016
By Valerie Schmalz

Moms who found child-care so they could work their jobs. This is what the archdiocesan newspaper is trumpeting. And what an example for Catholic students.
