Damian Thompson Is Critical of a Latin Integralist

Damian Thompson on the Neo-Integralists

Really, just a waste of time, and no better than an extended tweet. He thinks that liberalism is the reigning ideology, when it's not, and his acceptance of liberalism disqualifies him from giving any sound judgment regarding politike. The oligarchs don't take Latin integralists seriously as threats, and if they decide to suppress Roman Catholics, they will do so on all believing Roman Catholics, regardless of whether they profess Latin integralism or not.

Warming Up to the Anglican Ordinariate?

Damian Thompson - Pope Francis embraces the Ordinariate – and increases its power to evangelise
This week it emerged that Francis has widened the remit of the Ordinariates in Britain, America and Australia. Until now, only ex-Anglicans and their family members could join the new body. But, thanks to a new paragraph inserted into the Ordinariate's constitution by Francis, nominal Catholics who were baptised but not confirmed can join the structure. Indeed, the Holy Father wants the Ordinariates to go out and evangelise such people. Put bluntly, this suggests that English bishops who wanted to squash the body – and whose allies were rushing to get to the new Pope in order to brief against it – have been thwarted.

Does Damian Thompson support fracking?

Damian Thompson critcizes Cafod:

Just another Lefty pressure group
Did you know that the Catholic Church condemns fracking? Cafod – the English and Welsh bishops’ agency for overseas development – has been tweeting hysterically against shale gas. This week it sent us a link to an anti-fracking propaganda campaign run by European Greens, ferocious opponents of Catholic teaching on sexual morality. I remember a time when, if you put money in the collection plate for Cafod, you could be confident it would go to feed the hungry. Now, apart from the odd genuflection in the direction of Rome, the charity is just another Lefty pressure group. Catholics should bear that in mind next time the plate comes round.
I don't know enough about Cafod to say if they advocate sustainable development and appropriate technology. But isn't it proper to protect the environment, which is a good for all?

Damian Thompson: Cardinal Sodano, Dean of the College of Cardinals, implicated in Legionaries scandal and Interesting fallout from the Legionaries scandal

The label "conservative" could be applied to some who are implicated, and not just to some American Catholics -- opposed to the extraordinary form, they nonetheless profess to be right-believing Catholics.

Following Bertone's gaffe, Pope Benedict XVI has the chance to clear out the useless old guard from the Vatican

On Catholic Answers today, Philip Lawler seemed to be supporting the assertions of Cardinal Bertone about homosexual priests being the primary cause of the sex scandal, since most of the acts were not of pedophilia but pederasty.
