Is Kant's (first formulation of the) categorical imperative sufficient for determining certain precepts of morality? If the choice to live the American way of life is one that cannot be attempted by everyone on the planet without the ultimate destruction of humanity, then the CI would tell us that such a lifestyle founded upon inordinate consumption is wrong.
