As director of the Chris Kyle/American Sniper movie. Twitch: BREAKING: Eastwood To Replace Spielberg On AMERICAN SNIPER
Not having seen his two Iwo Jima movies all the way through I don't know how Eastwood has been as a director of war movies. Will he bring a harder, grittier edge to the movie than Spielberg would have? Possibly. The battle sequences in War Horse were ok - given the movie's rating they could not be as explicit as Saving Private Ryan. Based on what he's done recently, I don't think Spielberg could avoid sentimentalizing Chris Kyle's story.
