Pope Francis met Patriarch Neophyte and the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church on a May 5-7 visit to Sofia and Rakovski, Bulgaria, and to Skopje, North Macedonia.
Actually, Catholics and Orthodox are united in Christ through the Holy Mysteries -- if Francis had the theological acumen he'd realize that one of the obstacles to full communion is the pope's continued adherence in word and partly in deed to a claim to ordinary and immediate jurisdiction over the Church Universal.
At least they allowed him to pray in their cathedral. That was hospitable.
The editorial director is a Latin engaging in spin. Perhaps there are official Latin neologisms that have been created as the equivalents to "spin" and "fake news."
Sunday: Where did the icon come from?
In some ways this could be seen as an offensive -- how can the bishop of Rome dare to pray for "world peace" when he is a cause of division within the Church of Christ? (Of course the Orthodox need to look at their own culpability in perpetuating the schism.)
