Liberals Aren't Responsible for the First

Not even if we consider reovolutions that toppled monarchies; they may have assisted in those revolutions, but they weren't the only ones participating and liberalism wasn't the only agenda.

Some risky gambles by Western liberals that at first seemed highly plausible, but were always belied by most of history:

(1) Large republics are indefinitely sustainable
(2) Catholicism can be domesticated
(3) Constitutions can be deliberately made
(4) China can be subordinated
