A Louse versus a Flea. Who really cares about the US Presidential Election?

For a proper conservative, American national politics is a desert. You can choose between declared liberals and neo-conservatives who are liberal on all important issues. And that’s it. Or there’s dear old Ron Paul, who is another sort of liberal, really. But he’s not important anyway. There’s nobody who is really socially conservative, above all nobody who will act( it’s decades too late anyway) to end the lax immigration politics which have revolutionised the country and will render it unrecognisable within 30 years. There’s nobody who will rescue the married family, or protect and recreate manufacturing industry so that ordinary people have proper honest work to do again, or reform the schools, or devise a foreign policy that actually makes the country safer.

What absolutely amazes me about this election is the way that leftish commentators try to build up Mitt Romney as some kind of conservative monster. If only he were. But his own record shows otherwise (and I might add, his running mate, whose name I can never remember, is a keen student of Miss Ayn Rand, another liberal) .

The next debate is tomorrow? If I watch, it's to see if Obama improves.

Looks like it will be Elizabeth Emken against Diane Feinstein in November - the SJ Mercury. Women should not hold political office and Emken is not as good as Rick Williams (who describes himself as being aligned with the positions of Ron Paul) with respect to curbing the National Government; still, this may be one of those instances where one has to vote in order to get someone out of office. I have not read anything by Emken repudiating feminism; like Sarah Palin she'd probably nuance her brand of feminism in order to appeal to Republicans.

I was amused by the commercial

but I still won't be voting for Jerry Brown. I can't but be disgusted by overt Brown supporters when I see their signs and such. "Conservatives" argue that both Schwarzenegger and Whitman are RINOs. I think they are Republicans, and not true conservatives. I was never impressed by Ahnold's claims to office. In many respects Whitman is even worse, trying to buy the election with her money. It's too bad for her that the office isn't available for auction on eBay. All of the crass pride that is behind the motivation of the "popularity queens." I took a look tonight at the FB page for Madison Nguyen, and wouldn't you know it, most of the politicians she's taken photos with are Democrats. (Well, the politicians in the photos she's posted on FB.) What a degenerate state we must be in, if such people can obtain office. The dwellers in the urban and coastal regions deserve them.)

Looks like narrow defeats of Props 16 and 17. As for many of the county and state offices, the Thinking Housewife's latest post is applicable: Victories for Womankind, Losses for Conservatism. (Whitman and Fiorina? Give me a break.)

I hope it is soon confirmed that Jeff Rosen defeated Dolores Carr. There will be a runoff for public school Superintendent. I couldn't vote for any of the candidates, since most of them accept the system and its goals, and are only pledging to reform the system so that it can meet those goals. I considered voting for Henry Williams, since he did offer some alternative thinking, but in the end I found him a bit too supportive of education in multicultural diversity, even if he backed parents' rights to educate their children.

Who is going to take on the system and criticize the public school system, while returning control to local boards? How many are ready to question the current political economy? Everyone seems to believe in a future for California of continued economic prosperity focused on technology; no one asks whether it is sustainable.

I should find some choice words for my high school friends who supported Whitman, but they're not ready to be MRAs.

I've been looking at preliminary election results; with 18% of the precincts reporting, I see that many of the candidates I chose are losing. It appears that California Republicans will get the candidates they deserve this Fall. Measure J looks like it will pass -- Santa Clara will be on the hook for a new stadium for the 49ers. Will there be wailing and gnashing of the teeth if the economy fails to recover? The two propositions supported by the corporations, 16 and 17, appear to be passing. A dismal state of affairs.

I was thinking of holding my nose and voting for Poizner, but then I read the website for Robert C. Newman II.


It may be hard to take him seriously when you see what he is wearing in the video, but his platform is ok, in comparison to Poizner and Whitman. He is a farmer, and shows some awareness of the issue of sustainability.

I'll have to give this some more thought.
