Cardinal Says Door Is Open for Lefebvrites

With regards to the SSPX and the Motu Proprio, the cardinal said this:
The cardinal made the remarks in an interview published Sunday in the Italian daily Il Giornale. "If after this act, they do not return, I would not be able to understand it," he said.


Surely the cardinal is aware that the SSPX claims that there are theological differences and questions of how Vatican II is to be interpreted that the SSPX says need to be addressed before there can be full reconciliation. Now, the Holy Father has been taking steps towards addressing some of those issues, with his emphasis on the hermeneutic of continuity and more recently, the CDF's clarification on subsistit.
